Here Comes The Bike Path!

The much anticipated (and somewhat controversial – see “Future Holy Cross Road Bike Path extension in Colchester“) construction of the Colchester bike path from Porters Point Road to Church Road began earlier this week.
According to an email last week from Bryan Osborne, the Town of Colchester’s Director of Public Works “All Seasons Excavating is going to clear and grub the area along Church Road next week and prepare for concrete sidewalk. They will then remove the rail fence at Rossetti and clear and grub and prepare for path construction along Rossetti. After the trees have been removed from Rossetti, the tree clearing contractor, (Tree Be Gone) will move down to the end of Holy Cross Road and begin clearing a 17′ wide area from the edge of the pavement. (This is the 7′ green belt and the 10′ path) After this is done, the engineers, contractors and the Town will walk the project to identify the additional clearing limits that will be necessary behind the path. Once these are identified, fencing will be installed to mark the construction limits. We are also working with TK Landscape Architects of Colchester on the development of a landscape plan for the project. Additional information will be provided as available. If you have any questions regarding the project, please feel free to contact me anytime.”
For those of you who have questions, Bryan’s contact information can be found at the Town of Colchester’s website.
